DESIGNER

Job Purpose
Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts and taking these concepts from ideas to final artwork ready for print.    

Principal Accountabilities
Strong creative flair, a meticulous eye for detail and the ability to juggle multiple projects successfully   
Thinking creatively to produce new ideas and concepts for product development in the given time frame
Taking these ideas from concept (CAD & mock up) right the way through to design and artwork ready for print
Presenting these finalised ideas and concepts to various departments
Designing point of sale material and sales support documents
Updating existing artwork for reprints
Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed
To keep abreast of creative design related trends and competitors’ work
Working with a wide range of media, including photography and computer-aided design (CAD)
Keeping abreast of emerging technologies and software
Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work
Working as part of a team with printers, photographers, other designers, sales force, web developers and the marketing team
Have excellent knowledge of pre-press processes and experience dealing with printers as files need to be supplied ready for print
Attending press passes at various suppliers
Day to day management of junior designer
Developing an organised artwork filing system

Knowledge of:
Highly proficient in using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Acrobat and Microsoft
Different print processes
Packaging design/product development
Illustration skills an advantage but not essential
Website development an added advantage   

Qualification:
Relevant graphic design diploma or degree   

Experience:
Mid to senior level designer Agency or in-house experience
